This King Hoodie is a great option for your printing or embroidery needs. It is a heavy weight durable cotton/ poly blend that will sure to be a favorite. King Fashion has been making clothes in Canada for decades. When everyone else left the country for cheaper labour, King hung in there. They set themselves apart from the rest of the crowd by being consistent and higher quality. The King logo is stitched into the pocket, so if you are re-branding, this hoodie won’t work for you. (unless your name starts with K)
This sweatshirt is the highest cotton content of all the sweatshirts we carry. The advantage to this is that it prints beautifully. Natural fibers are always the best choice for bright inks and thin, light feeling prints. The disadvantage is that it shrinks more than a blend of polyester would. Even though it is pre-shrunk, be aware the there will be a noticeable reduction in the length of this garment if it is put in a hot dryer.
Best Decorating Methods
Almost any printing method is a success on this sweatshirt. Plastisol prints bright and smooth and reduced plastisol gives a great vintage look.
Keep in mind that this hoodie has a pouch pocket so you can’t put huge prints on the front. And remember that the image has to fit inside the parameters of the smallest size. So if you add youth XS, your maximum print size, to avoid the pocket, will only be about 8 inches tall. Of course you can do two different size prints, but there would be an extra charge for that.
This sweatshirt embroiders great too. The heavier the weight of a sweatshirt, the better the results. However, we do suggest that if you are going to embroider a large area, such as a large back patch, that you choose a sweatshirt that contains more polyester and therefore will shrink less. Due to the high cotton content on this item, a large place of embroidery will pucker or get wavy. I’m sure you’ve seen that before, where an embroidered garment puckers around the stitching. We can counteract this with a heavy backing, which is fine under a small area, but under a big area it feels like someone stabled cardboard into you sweatshirt and it’s not too fun to wear that.
Tackle twill, or felt applique works great to and you don’t have to worry as much about shrinking with applique. That is because the applique will shrink with the hoodie and give a little more than thread will. Plus it is usually glued to the garment as well as stitched, so the two have become one.
Overall this is a great domestic made hoodie that makes happy customers.
